Fly into Lisbon or Porto on the Friday or Saturday if you can, and enjoy a day or 2 in those charming cities or by the beach before heading up to see us in the mountains on the Sunday afternoon coaches: the 1.30pm from Lisbon or the 4.30pm from Porto, to our local town of Oleiros, where we will pick you up by car on arrival. Coach timetable (only visible a week in advance), prices and tickets on the Rede Expressos website. The Sete Rios coach station in Lisbon is a 15 minute shuttle bus, metro or taxi ride from both the airport and city centre. The Porto coach station is a 25 minute train ride into the centre from the airport.
We email everyone the week before arrival so if you wish, you can arrange to meet each other in Lisbon or Porto before travelling up to the forest together. Good meeting place in Lisbon is the café in the Zoo next to the coach station. The trip from Porto changes in Coimbra and we pick you up at 7.45pm in Sertã. If you prefer to spend the afternoon in Coimbra rather than Porto, take an earlier coach or train there in time for the 6.30pm bus to Sertã. The coach from Lisbon has one short loo break half way at Tomar.
Return coach is Saturday 8am from Oleiros to both Lisbon and Porto arriving midday. Best to choose evening flights home, or stay a night there and fly home Sunday. You can buy your coach tickets online one week in advance as their site won't show the timetable til then.
Do consider extending your trip here before and/or after your retreat with us, to see more of beautiful Portugal. If you can, add a few days to your stay to visit the charming cities of Lisbon, Porto or Coimbra, the historic towns and villages peppered throughout the country or any of the award winning beaches around the coast. Hostels and guest houses are clean and well run in Portugal and there are some wonderful holiday cottages where you will be well looked after with renowned Portuguese hospitality. We can personally recommend This is Lisbon hostel by the castle with fabulous views, The Alfama Patio hostel in the old part or the delightful Whatever Arts in Campo Pequeno.
Or perhaps you might like to head straight for the country, spending a day or 2 either side of your retreat here in Oleiros. Either at Vilar dos Condes in nearby Madeirã, the Campismo next to the Praia Fluvial, a stone cottage called Casa do Dão, or at the Santa Margarida 4 star hotel . Each offers a special price for our guests, so just mention us when you contact them. If you are staying 2 weeks or more, we will check you into one of these places for the Saturday in between your retreats and pick you up on Sunday afternoon.
If you prefer to travel further, our favourite most unspoilt part of the coast in Portugal is the Rota Vicentina. Guest house hosts there will look after you, arrange surf lessons, hikes etc or suggest other places along the coast if they are full.
